I found it so strange that the last time I looked at laptop reviews all the reviewers would list a numpad as a negative and not just a simple preference thing.
Guess people don’t use their computers to compute anymore…

Guess the BDSM folks with their Master/Slave relationships are included in Pride.
I wanted to answer “I’m boycotting your mother” but last night proved that to be false.
They’ll just evaluate your performance in the game and allow you to play a much more realistic version in Ukraine.
One of Fairphones slogans was “the most sustainable phone is the one you already own”. By not adding a headphone jack to their future phones they keep me hooked on my FP3.
I need this.
Yes. Schadenfreude. Your spelling wasn’t that far off. A compound word of Schaden (damage) and Freude (joy). Usually feeling joy at the damage of others.
Incidentally we also have the saying “Wer den Schaden hat braucht für den Spott nicht zu sorgen.” - “The one with the damage does not have to supply the ridicule.” In its essence a little more compassionate saying. Because we also have the word “Mitgefühl”. Literally “with-feeling” eg to feel with someone together, to feel what they are feeling.
We actually had a C 128. But we always booted into C 64 mode because that had all the good games.
The only 128 game we had was some super complicated stealth bomber flight simulator. The manual was cool though.
We had multiple games on our floppies. All pirated and with miles of paper printouts showing which games were on which floppy.
I think we had two legitimately bought games.
Huh, never ever seen that. We always used the rule "you can shutdown the computer when you can see the C:".
What does park do? Put the HDD arm into a parked position? Never needed that for ours, but we also had a blazingly fast 486 with a massive 250 MB hdd.
Real and … straight? No, doesn’t work.
German proverb: Wenn zwei sich streiten freut sich der dritte.
When two people fight the third feels delight.
I like Hetzner. They host my server and my domains.
The problem isn’t really 40 apps keeping connections open. That shouldn’t cause much battery drain or RAM usage. Really really heavy emphasis on “shouldn’t”.
Too many shitty apps that keep doing shit when running in the background instead of just waiting for data to arrive. So Google takes the sledgehammer approach and just doesn’t let apps do that and instead makes them rely on Google’s one dedicated background app that they know behaves.
You’re describing OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.
I thought it would be https://xkcd.com/949/.
I’m speaking of the predecessor. Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. That’s the second time now someone on Lemmy forgot it existed.
It was awesome. It had sprawling levels seldom seen nowadays. It really let you feel the scale of places. And in contrast to JO and JA the lightsaber would actually properly illuminate an area.
I’m reminded of Jedi Knight. You could easily die by running into a wall with force speed. It was glorious.
Window rules rule!
Probably.
But what if the timer triggered during normal operation? Then your computer would suddenly suspend on its own and you wouldn’t know why.
I’ve already made a feature request to only run when the system is suspended.
Until then I’ll look at when the system woke up and if that was less than a minute ago turn off the display and suspend after everything is done.
