It would be nice if we could get desktops with 8 to 16 core ARM CPUs running at a very high clock speed.
128 cores is great for compiling large programs, but most stuff is not optimized to use more than a few cores. The framerates do seem a bit low to me, but box64 is emulating a 64-bit cpu on an arm cpu, right? So a very complex instruction set working on a risc chip. That’s quite the feat… and the frametimes look pretty stable. Looking forward to see this keep developing into the future!
Frame rates are low because the 128 cores are individually fairly weak and video games are famously poorly threaded
With the recent news that Nvidia are preparing for ARM gaming laptops, things are looking very bright for arm.
Meh, Nvidia ARM is probably going to be an integrated chipset like the Jetson boards, the Nintendo Switch consoles, and the Shield devices. I’ll be impressed when the ARM hardware ecosystem adopts a modular style like the x86/x86_64 ecosystem.
